  • Tracking wheel wear

    Hi Guys,

I've had a 48 now for 8-9 months and have used it sparingly in that time as a hobbyist and I've noticed the inside of the tracking wheel has noticeably worn away. I'm using primarily Norton blaze, norax and Klingspor jflex belts.

I'm wondering if this is a normal wear.

I've uploaded a picture here: Imgur: The magic of the Internet

    Regards,

    Tony

Did you buy it from 84Engineering or Gameco?, and have you contacted Ewan? https://84engineering.com.au/

    or https://www.artisansupplies.com.au/p...c=22783a5940ef

that looks like some pretty severe wear, one of the reasons both my tracking wheels are solid aluminium

I picked it up from Gameco.

The wear does seem excessive hence my concern. This being my first proper grinder I was unsure if this is a normal occurrence.

That’s just from the belts you haven’t been grinding on that wheel? That’s a crap load of damage for a short period!!

I've had a 48 engineering grinder for twice that time and use similar belts. I use it as a hobby, but probably grind every week. Mine is nowhere near that worn.

Sounds like something is definitely up with mine. I've probably done about 5 small blades through it in since I've owned it, 9 months or so.

I've messaged 84, hopefully they can provide some input.

If you're anywhere close to Gamecoland?(Auburn), rip the wheel off and take it in and show them, I've never been into Gameco, but in the years of dealing with them over the phone/email, they have always been awesome to deal with, great people, even if their illustrious leader is mia
