It returned from New Guinea when he was demobbed. He was with the 4th Field Company RAE. My brother and I used to play with it as kids, I'm surprised it is still intact.
Dad never used to talk about his experiences, so we never really knew what he got up to. But I understand that this was never issued to him per se. As engineers they had time on their hands and he told us they often raided the Q stores, so I suspect thats where this came from.
It is marked Gregory Steel Products (at least thats what I think it says) nothing on the reverse.
