cheers guys, I been meaning to make some fillet knives for a while know so it was an itch I had to scratch, I have been an avid amateur offshore fisherman for years and these 2 knives were based on what i prefer to use.

You've given me inspiration to make a fillet knife for my brother, he lives over there just south of Bunbury. Like you Mark, he's an avid fisherman and he catches some really nice fish, (unlike me).
Anyway, I now have a 9" fillet knife underway for his 50th birthday.

Cheers mate, the timber is stabilised then once fitted these were hand sanded to 2500gt then given a light buff with pink scratchless on a sewn wheel

This one is a bit fancy for a fillet knife but I figured what the heck, go hard or go home.
The steel is forged 31 layer stainless Takefu with an SG2 core, for the life of me I couldn't get a decent pic of the pattern in the blade due to the full polish but it looks pretty speccy in the flesh.
The scales are ancient mammoth ivory with 416ss bolsters, pins and black G10 liners, once I had the knife finished I sent it over to Marcello Pedini to work his magic with some engraving.
This one is also heading to the Perth show this weekend.
