  • Hi from Mackay.

Hi guys I've been browsing for a while, I'm based in Mackay Qld. I made knives for a while in Zimbabwe but stopped when we relocated to Australia, now I find I've been bitten by the bug again but I have to start from the beginning, building a grinder and finding sources of materials. Any other knifemakers or enthusiasts in this part of the world who can help? Enjoy the site glad there is such a good resource for us outcasts! Steve

Welcome to the forum. I'd say you'll find plenty of help with finding what you need here.
Quantum physics is a bit of a passion of mine. It's extraordinary. There's a branch of mathematics that is based on lunacy, and that's wonderful.

Welcome aboard. The bulk of my family are in Mackay so we are up that way regularly. The great thing about a forum like this is it makes the tyranny of distance that bit less daunting.

Well, we are used to making do up here in regional Qld, maybe some more may come crawling out the woodwork now!

Niroc, these were mainly 440c hollow ground on 12" wheel with indigenous hardwood handles pinned with 1/8 in brass, I can see I'm going to miss access to buffalo horn, warthog tusk and big game bone! Spoilt in those days!

I will definitely need advice on sourcing wheels & belts and buffs etc.
