A quick note to say hi to all the other knife makers out there.
I've been making knives on an off for six years now, operating out of a tiny under the stairs wine celler (had to empty it first) in the Adelaide Hills. Malcolm Day, formally of the Cutlers Cottage, took me under his wing and helped me sort the wheat from chaff, as he has done with a flock of aspiring makers over the years. So thanks Mal.
Originally a geologist, I discovered the custom knife world while twiddling my internet thumbs on long late nights in a mud and thatch village in remote tropical Africa. Sweat, buzzing insects, the sound of drums in the background and me looking at damascus blades on my laptop. Now as a house dad in sedate, tranquil Adelaide, its my chance to use my hands.
I reckon I've just got to the stage I'm proud of my work and have started selling it, the first hundred 'experiments' were either trashed, hidden under the bed or given to relatives as shed knives. I"m sure you've all been there.
So thanks for having me
