Greetings everyone, I didn't know this forum existed until I ran across it via another site...I thought I'd jump on here and take a look to see what people have been making - some really impressive work! I also thought I'd take the opportunity to submit some of my own work for dissection
I've been making (or attempting to make) Japanese-style blades out of simple carbon steels. I got a lot of my pointers from Scott Slobodian (US maker), but I'm still learning and trying to perfect it. I've usually got at least one on the go, even though work tends to get in the way a fair bit. Anyway, enough rambling, here's one of my latest ones, a tanto in 1060 steel with the saya in dyed curly rock maple. The handle is dyed leather over rayskin and the fittings are solid copper. The inscription in kanji reads 'green tiger'.
