  • Hello fae Scotland!

    G'day all!
Just thought I'd introduce myself, I'm a part time custom maker living in Elgin, Scotland. I've just left the military after 22 years service, I started out making sgian dubhs but am currently concentrating on full tang blades for hunters and bushcrafters! The plan is to relocate to Perth, W.A this year so might even get to meet some of you at some point!

Welcome to the forum. Hope the relocations goes well.

Welcome Culloch. My wifes family is from Scotland. Good luck with W.A - make sure you have air conditioning .

I had a sgian dubh when I was a child (my grandmother brought it back from Scotland after a trip) but sadly its long gone now . Because I live in Victoria I would have to jump through a few hoops to be able to get another one I think (might be classed as a prohibited item - I am unsure).

I'm not sure what the regs are to be honest but I know there are a lot of ex pts who wear the kilt out there? I'll ask my little brother, he's a cop in Perth but lived in Victoria for a while so may be able to shed some light on the subject!

Welcome Culloch! Nothing wrong with Perth BUT you do need aircon in the car and the house. Your brother being here will help enormously..............

And a fine welcome to Ye.

You'll be surprised just how many Aussies have got a bit of Scottish blood in them.

Probably something to do with the Scots wanting to get away from the English!
