  • Cheers all...

Finally you have all stopped offering up awesome knives for sale long enough for me to introduce myself.

I am residing up here in sunny North West Qld.

Have been collecting knives on and off for over 25 years now...starting with my first...a Gerber Bolt Action folder (just like me Dad's).

Have loved my Gerbers ever since...

Only got serious collecting in the last 2-3 years though, after discovering BladeForums and the Bussekin...

I couldn't believe we didn't have our own local Blade Forum, and had searched a few times on Google...but to no avail. I only found the AKG etc.

This may have been before the birth of this forum though...

Strangely enough it was only through Googling "Busse MOAB"...for some stats, that I was directed to an ad for one for sale here.

And the rest, as they say is...well, history...

As my missus can attest...I was quit excited to learn that I was not alone on this continent in my attraction/obsession/compulsion for a good blade...lol

I have also always dreamed of actually making my own knife one day...being a Welder/NDT Tech, and working with metals most of my working life. Although after reading some of the custom threads here already, I think the gear required might make it a big task.

My first custom knives were from a Brisbane maker named Jones (John?) Custom. I have tried to google him since but haven't been able to find out any info as to whether he is still around? Anyone here heard/know of him?

My knife collection has since become quite eclectic...brands include Gerber, Puma, SOG, Bussekin, Spyderco, ZT, Cold Steel, CRKT, ESSE, Kabar, Becker, CRK...plus a few customs from David Dempsey and a McClure damascus. I'm sure I've missed some...

I am hoping to add an Emerson and a Strider to my collection ASAP.

Anyhoo, I have already had some awesome dealings with a few of the members here and looking forward to many more.

    Till my next "knifegasm"...

    Cheers all...

Welcome to the forum mate. LOL! I don't think I've ever welcomed somebody with a post count of over 40 - I think you well and truely have a place here!

You so totally need to get yourself some Emersons and Striders, add to that US or Jap Spydies (on the cheaper scale) and Chris Reeve and Hinderer (on the dearer scale), only then can you truely call yourself a "Brand Slut" (as I do ).

John Jones was and is one of Australia's best makers, he has now retired from making, but can still be contacted for maintenance/repairs. Stewart will help you with that if you want.

Now that you've had a chance to introduce yourself, how about some pics of your collection?

    Cheers,

I have a few Spyderco's already (Paramilitary, Military, Police, CoPilot, Walker Lightweight)...and I have the Custom Large Sebenza on it's way from Toller. So I'm getting there...
