Hi guys

Just wanted to pop by and say hi to everyone and introduce myself.

I'm 19 and studying mining engineering from Sydney and only recently been collecting knives (when i turned 18 of course).

I've recently discovered that im into hunting knives of the convex variety; Bark river, fallkniven etc

Reason i joined was to share my interest with like minded folks, mainly because my friends and in particular my girlfriend doesn't approve of the whole knife thing, so this seems like the perfect place to share my interests with you guys.

You will be among good company here.

Strange isn't it that 50 years ago it was a rite of passage for a young man to get his first pocket knife and just about every male carried one. Go back not much further and even the ladies carried a pocket knife.

Next time someone has a go at your interest in knives, ask them if they only use their fingers to eat with? Most civilised people use a knife and a fork!! Don't argue, just walk away and let them digest that!

Hello and welcome to ABF K, you have found the right place to share and be informed on knives. As to the GF not showing interest, give her time and slowly expose her to awesome world of custom blades, a great way to start is to show her some of Glenn Waters work here http://www.flickr.com/photos/glenn-i...7625177619931/ i have yet to find a woman that does not find Glenn's work beautiful/artistic is some way.

Welcome mate. My girlfriend also doesnt find my knife hobby interesting. I just add this to the list of other things I do that she doesnt find interesting. lol

My wife gives me a lot of flak over knives, but she doesn't leave home without an SAK, & is often proud that she was the only person that day in her circle who could pull out a knife when needed.
Convexed hunters are a relatively specific starting point for a collection.
